Microsoft has sent out invitations to a select number of testers allowing them to participate in a “limited technical beta program” for the upcoming Internet Explorer 8. The announcement also says that there will be a public beta as well, once the invitation version is complete.

Microsoft Corp. said it will stop making HD DVD players for its Xbox 360 video game system after Toshiba Corp. ceded the high-definition video format battle to Sony Corp.’s Blu-ray.

Ever since Microsoft officially launched their Live products, they no longer provide standalone installer for Windows Live Messenger. Every time I reinstall Windows, I have to redownload messenger again. The best is to download Windows Live Messenger from Microsoft and backup the standalone installer for future installation. Here’s how to do it.

Took ‘em long enough. They didn’t file a press release, but Microsoft did use its Gamerscore blog, which it says is the “inside scoop from Microsoft Xbox and Games employees.” Today Microsoft announced they would halt production of HD-DVD drives for the Xbox 360.
